Wow - a New Decade to explore! I can only imagine what new delights will be dreamt up and created in the next ten years of my life! This year is starting off with a real sense of possibility for me - I know if I keep my attention focused on that, it will only multiply and expand, in ways I can only imagine.
So why have I made the word Imagine bold in that last paragraph? Because that's where I want to help you focus right now. At the start of a new year we hear so much about Goals and Resolutions and getting into action. Which is great - AND there's such an important step that needs to come before that.
One of the greatest gifts we have as humans is our imagination and the ability of consciousness to see and feel things that aren't here yet. Think about that - there is so much in our history that we have to be grateful for because of the imagination of others. When I start thinking about it, my head begins to swirl - it's an enormous place to go... airplanes, shoes, printing presses, velvet, the keyboard I'm typing on, pianos...and on & on & on!
Taking that to my own life, I can reflect on where I’ve used my imagination to evoke a new reality. I have to say I’ve always found this to come naturally and have often been told how people marvel at what I have birthed into the world. Well, you absolutely can too!
When I receive an inspired idea, it also comes with an emotional response. This emotional response and the feelings associated with it are the keys to taking that idea and making it a full blown reality. When we use our minds and hearts to imagine, we are stepping into the world of Creation. It’s the concentration and consistent focus on my dreams that creates a direction for my actions.
Here’s an example from my Dreaming Your Story of Joy Retreat that’s happening this Saturday. This day has manifested exactly as I describe above. Last fall, I had a strong idea that there was a need to bring the tools of manifestation for the year to my community. Because I believe in the power of subconscious imagery to support making our visuals a reality, I decided that creating vision boards would be a great way to help others start to create the year that they want. Knowing of a beautiful location that brought me a sense of safety, possibility and expansiveness gave me more images to call on. I spent time resonating with the pictures in my mind of a dozen or so women gathering to reflect on their year and imagine the one that would come next. I actually imagined seeing, hearing, feeling, sensing the day as it could be. It was a vivid representation that I gave lots of attention to. Moving from my imagination into our concrete world, I created flyers for it, I told everyone I could about it and shared my passion and excitement for this unique day. I continued to do that over the weeks that ended 2009 and into this New Year. In doing so, I created a buzz; an energy of desire, determination and belief. And now, 3 days away, I have that day to live out with an amazing group who responded to my imagination. Not only that, but they will be using this process to bring their own imagination forward in service to their best life! Now that is the cherry on the cake!
You can do this in your life whenever you choose. It only takes deciding to access your creativity and personal power. By spending your time investing in your imagination, you can see the future, create goals and action steps and turn your Vision into Experience. I recognize in you the person who can bring fearlessness to her passion. So - What’s next for you? What do you want to be able to see when you look back on 2010?
