HOLIDAY GREETINGS! I hope that yours have gotten off to a good
start and that in the time remaining to 2008 you create a season
that celebrates you and your successes this year and allows
for time to dream of what could be in the next.
I was fortunate
this past month to attend the International Coaching Conference
in Montreal, Quebec! What a fantastic experience of learning
and connecting. I especially love the logo for the conference.
It captured the power and intensity of coaching’s
reach, as 1500 coaches gathered together from 51 countries.
We are truly a global family committed to all of the Earth’s
children fulfilling their dreams! I am grateful to call myself
a member of this unique and international community.
While there
were many remarkable speakers to hear and workshops to attend,
I was particularly jazzed by the presentation of two wonderful
coaches from Brisbane, Australia: Peter Barr-Thomson and Josie
Thomson of Ingenius People Ltd. I’d like to
share with you their transformational model for creating your
dreams.
This model
starts right off with a bang – declaring that
anyone can be a Genius! Well, I can tell you truthfully, I definitely
noticed some resistance to that statement! But let me show you
where they were coming from so you can skip the old stereotypes
and see their idea in a new light.
While one
definition, from Webster, defines genius as the capacity for
original thought, they turned to actual geniuses themselves
to see what they had to say. To quote Thomas Edison: “Sticking
to it is the genius.” And Ben Franklin said, “Genius
is the ability to hold one’s vision steady until it becomes
a reality.” Embracing these definitions offers a completely
different perspective about how to be a genius. Standing on
this platform, Peter shared with us his Genius Formula: G(Genius)
= P6.
So what
does P6 mean? Here are the six P’s that will
lead you to creating your dreams and having True Success – and
the happiness and freedom that accompany it.
The
Six P’s
1.
Potential. It begins in your head. The vision of success
that you imagine and that is only limited by your imagination.
Using your intelligence to dream forth the possibilities
of Potential for your life. (This is your true IQ – intelligence
quotient)
2.
Passion. Passion is the heartfelt expression of positive
emotion. It is the feeling you have about your vision.
Excitement, energy and motivation are all sourced from
the heart’s
Passion. (This is your EQ – emotional intelligence)
3.
Purpose. The inner knowing that this is the right path
for you. Coming from your intuition, your deepest core
self, you receive a knowing different from intellect,
one grounded in the contribution you were meant to make… your Purposeful
Life. (This is your SQ – spiritual intelligence)
4.
Paradigm Shift. Knowing that our actions and behaviors
are driven by our beliefs, Paradigm Shift means not listening
to negative, limiting beliefs but creating the positive
truth that will call you forth to create your vision.
Our minds listen to the loudest voice in our heads – what
is yours telling you? Make the shift to thoughts that
confirm possibility and your commitment to it. Feed and
nourish yourself with beliefs that confirm your IQ, EQ
and SQ!
5.
Plan. Ground yourself in the reality of physical matter.
Anchor your dream to big goals, then break them down into
small steps that build success and guide you forward.
Without a plan, dreams are ephemeral – with
a great one, they will become manifest.
6.
Persistence. Like Edison and Franklin, genius’s stick
to the vision. As the German philosopher Goethe said, “ Whatever
you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has GENIUS,
power and magic in it.”
Having used
this formula a number of times in my life, (without the benefit
of it being stated so clearly) I can attest to its power.
While I still feel a little funny calling myself a genius,
I do know how to follow this formula and can name the things
I’ve created with it. What about you – What vision
do you have that could benefit from explicitly using this guide?
Let me know so I can support you in creating and living your
True Life!
As my last
word to you for 2008, let me say a deeply, heartfelt THANK
YOU. To all my clients, and my supporters, without you I wouldn’t
have the chance to inspire and be inspired by you. I feel
a huge abundance in my life because of you and your interest
and commitment to learning and growth. I look forward to old
and new ways we can share this journey together in 2009 and
beyond!
