The Quest for Your Authentic Leader Retreat is an eclectic mix of useful tools from my own wisdom journey, the most important of which is taking time in nature to discover and converse with your Authentic self within. She is the one who moves easily from her own inner knowing of what truly matters to living that vision in the world. This gives her a powerful presence - a magnetism to enables her to stay centered and grounded between earth and sky, regardless of the winds of culture pushing their agenda.

The Retreat centers around a private mini-vision quest for a whole day alone on the beautiful land. Leading up to it, there are 2 1/2 days of personal experiential learning and preparation to get ready for that solo experience. Afterwards there is a powerful session creating Shields of Leadership and an amazing evening circle of sharing the stories in a ritual way. The closing ceremony is co-created and enacted on the final night of this 6 day retreat.

The week also includes mindfulness meditation instruction, delicious vegetarian meals and individual little cabins for solitude and contemplation. Outwardly we hike to some incredible spots on the property (a rock scupture of Deadalus and his mother after he's fallen from the sky!) and play in the Vallecitos river, pick wildflowers, dance, share in safe circles of compassionate support. This is my premier and favorite retreat - time at a stunning sanctuary, finding your own wisdom in a conversation with the Sacred Other.

More about Our Retreat Home:

The Vallecitos Mountain Refuge, eleven miles from paved road, surrounded by
thousands of acres of ancient forest - including the oldest Ponderosa pine in the Carson
National Forest - is a magical 135 acre wildlife refuge and mountain sanctuary:
majestic old growth timber, lush alpine meadows, abundant wildlife, mountain lakes and the
Vallecitos River running through it.

The beautiful and historic log cabin Lodge features a grand meditation hall and spacious
library with comfy couches for meetings and gatherings. The dining room overlooks the Rio
Vallecitos and the stunning mountains and meadowlands. Any of the library, front porch or
spacious 30-foot yurt are used for breakout groups. There is a fire pit for evening campfires – oh the stories that get told!

Rustic, comfortable accommodations are in our individual casitas, and
yurts. Each space has a bed, desk, chair and large window that creates a feeling of living outdoors while having the cozy shelter of privacy and warmth. Meals are gourmet vegetarian (we have great cooks!) and made with organic, local ingredients whenever possible. Vallecitos Mountain Refuge is located 1 ½ hours northwest of scenic Taos, New Mexico.

As Vallecitos Ranch is a wildlife refuge we strive to maintain a harmonious relationship with nature. During your stay you may get to hear or even see such incredible creatures as beaver, elk, deer. There are no poisonous plants or animals at the Ranch.

The Vallecitos Mountain Refuge is located at 8,800 feet, considered high altitude, in a
high mountain climate. Most people can go up to 8,000 feet with minimal effect. Upon confirming your space, you will receive detailed information about how to prevent any symptoms relating to the altitude. (Please note that the high elevation of the ranch may exacerbate certain medical conditions such as high blood pressure and diabetes. Consult your physician before traveling to the ranch if you have any of these conditions.)

At this elevation,, summer nights and early mornings can be cool, (sometimes in the 30s!) and days can be quite warm (usually between 70° and 80°F). Afternoon thundershowers (events of some drama!) are common during the summer. A detailed packing list will be sent upon your confirmation.
