Take a Heroine's Journey down the Green River, on the border of Colorado and Utah, following the same path of explorer John Wesley Powell in 1869. As we journey down this wilderness gem, exploring the currents and canyons, you'll discover a place to experience fun, adventure, beauty and support. This six day trip (with four days on the river) gives you time to leave the world behind and the opportunity to increase your capacity to Be in the Flow – not just on the river, but throughout your life.

  A SPECTACULAR SETTING

In addition to the wonderful and super-capable river guides, you'll be led by Certified Retreat Coaches Victoria FittsMilgrim and Karin Marcus. Victoria and Karin are both experienced and compassionate guides to the kind of deep listening that fosters acceptance and visioning for your best life. In addition to being Certified Life Coaches, they have journeyed together as Retreat Coaches since 2005. Set aside as a national treasure in 1938, our 44-mile white water rafting trip begins at the "Gates of Lodore" located in Dinosaur National Monument on the Green River. We'll travel through some exhilarating white water rapids that will require expert navigation by our River Guides. Time to get wet, scream with delight and marvel at this sanctuary for bighorn sheep, deer and elk. At Echo Park, the journey through Lodore Canyon slows down a bit allowing you an opportunity to explore this breathtaking region in an inflatable kayak! Be the Captain of your own Boat!

Delicious river cuisine (WE ARE NOT KIDDING! You'll be amazed at the outrageous meals you'll be treated to on this journey!), inflatable kayaks, expert guides and a chance to take the oars all add up to plenty of fun while learning and practicing new skills. Guided on side canyon hikes, discover the hidden archeological treasures and geologic forces that carved this amazing land.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a fun adventure retreat that takes place in a wilderness area. You don't need camping or rafting experience but you do need a mindful, bright spirit and a community-minded attitude. We travel as powerful Heroines together on a Journey! While every consideration is made to provide a safe environment, Nature is unpredictable. There is no electricity, phone (including cell phones), or internet on the river.   6-DAY / 5-NIGHT RETREAT

The beautiful Green, also known as the "Queen of Rivers" boasts a 44-mile stretch of whitewater rafting through Lodore Canyon, filled with excitement and beautiful scenery. We will encounter 800 foot canyon walls superbly crafted by Mother Nature of Precambrian Bedrock along with exquisite vermillion rock formations. Many of the exciting whitewater rapids were named by John Wesley Powell, who first discovered the canyon in 1869.

Our final day in Lodore Canyon brings us to the entrance of Split Mountain Gorge. Indian rock art and a diverse array of wildlife and incredible natural beauty combine to make this an amazing and unforgettable white water rafting retreat.

  ITINERARY

One of the advantages of a river rafting trip is the flexibility of the daily itinerary. It can vary widely from one rafting trip to the next based on group desires, Mother Nature, and courtesy for other groups on the river. This is a typical itinerary of the whitewater rafting trip through Lodore Canyon, including your arrival and departure days.

• Day 1, Thursday , July 5
  Travel to Vernal, Utah, arriving by early afternoon. (Best airport: Salt Lake City). Check in at hotel. Meet your co-leaders Victoria FittsMilgrim and Karin Marcus with the Holiday Expedition staff for pre-trip briefing and Opening Wise Women Circle. (Dinner cost on your own).
• Day 2, Friday, July 6
  Early meeting at Holiday Expeditions headquarters in Vernal. Pack everything and head out on bus ride to Brown's Park National Wildlife Refuge, the site of the put-in. Pass through the Gates of Lodore and encounter Upper and Lower Disaster Falls.
• Day 3, Saturday, July 7
  The "Gates" mark the beginning of High Desert country – the Colorado Plateau – and as the canyon narrows, more rapids emerge: Harp Falls, Triplet Falls, and Hell's Half Mile. Hike at Powell's Rippling Brook and Falls.
• Day 4, Sunday, July 8
  At the confluence of the Green and Yampa rivers at Echo Park, the canyon widens before the river circles Steamboat Rock. Here the Green River enters Whirlpool Canyon. The afternoon may be spent at Jones Hole Creek – a blue-ribbon trout stream with side canyon petroglyphs and waterfall.
• Day 5, Monday, July 9
  We enjoy a peaceful morning in Rainbow and Island Park areas before entering another massive gorge. The Green's powerful forces cut laterally through Split Mountain's uplifted and colorful core. White water rapids abound before the take out and a 35-minute ride back to Vernal. Final Celebration Dinner (cost on your own) and overnight at Best Western Antlers Inn.
• Day 6, Tuesday, July 10
  Morning breakfast and farewells - on to the next stage of your Heroine's Journey!

Victoria FittsMilgrim, PCC, CPCC, Certified Retreat Leader and Authentic Leadership Coach, has a private coaching practice  in Durango, Colorado. Victoria has been a Soul Journeyer and Personal Growth Visionary for the past 25 years and is also the creator of The Heroine's Journey: A Feminine Model for Navigating Change in the 21st Century. She leads powerful retreats for women who are committed to balancing self-care with making a difference in today’s world. Karin Marcus is a Professional Certified Coach with the International Coaching Federation, a Coach U Certified Graduate, a Master Certified Retreat Coach, Board Certified Coach with CCE, a Purpose Clarity Coach and a Season of Change Master Coach and Trainer. She is also the resident Life Coach for The Healing Touch Center.

Karin has a B.S. in Physical Education and a M.A. in Movement Therapy. For 20 years she was the managing editor of The Fellowship Press, publishing the works of the Sufi teacher, Bawa Muhaiyaddeen. Thankfully, she has been married for 36 years and has two daughters in their twenties.

Her personal coaching style combines her love of the outdoors and respect for the human spirit. Karin’s goal is to help every one become an environmentalist of the heart.
